MyFrsh is an organization that provides health insurance and banking services through their banking platform for citizens impacted by the justice system.
During my time a t Philanthrolab, I collaborated with them on a couple projects but this is not one of them.
This is a personal project I took on to create a better end-to-end banking app for FRSH users.
Anything what doing started with a strategy - Joe Natoli. To create a functional and user-friendly app for FRSH. I conducted extensive research, using the 5Ws & 1 H.
This framework allowed me to understand user needs and discover business opportunities even as a non-profit organization. I discovered a lot of justice-impacted users do not know much about money or know how to build a gpd credit score. To dive deeper into the strategy and research work, click the button below to access it.
To solve this, I focused on creating an app that would make it easy for users to get banked and be established financially. The app allows users to have an account to their name, order physical and virtual cards so as to conveniently perform transactions.
Tracking credit score and building their financial literacy with our blog sections will helps users become financially established.
Frsh already has an Android app on the play store, Having an ios would lead to conversion of users on the app since 50% of Americans are iPhone users.
I improved the user interface making it more delightful and friendly. New features such as loans to under justice-impacted users get on their feet or start a business. Another feature I suggest to be added would be Community to connect with fellow justice-impacted users, share their experience with money.
I approached this project putting myself in the shoes of the my users and the struggles they face trying to establish themselves financially.
My design is focused on providing users with the tools they need to be fully banked, removing the roadblocks they face from traditional establishments. While also creating a learning environment with blog and a safe space with community. Doing research exposed me to a lot of stories on how justice-impacted individuals end up loosing their reputation in society and being discriminated from opportunities because of the circumstance surrounding them.
